Weights lifted
Jun. 9th, 2002 02:17 amMy aunt arrived today right on time. It's really nice to see her, such's such a cheerful and level headed.. yet understated woman.
Went to a BBQ at my buddy Dave's (aka Punk Kid Dave) which was a blast. The usual suspects were there. We had midnight meat and being the official homosexual I was obligated to make many innuendos about cooking the sausage and feeding it to people.
But I was a good sport about it, why the hell not eh? :)
Got to play with Dave's Line 6 Guitar Pod which isnt too bad a multi-FX at all. Very sturdy design, well thought out controls and really awesome tone. It's great for getting all the punk, rock and metal tones but it's not exactly a very creative pallette. That is to say if you crank the parameters you're still within the sorta sounds you've heard on a zillion records. I was still able to get from a nice "Where the streets have no name" bright delay like the Edge to a thick Sabbath tone with ease. I'm still a fan of using a PC running VST DirectX plug-ins and adjusting them with MIDI controllers. Still, if you're a rock player the Pod is pretty darn rad and easy to use.
Had only about 4 drinks all night and resisted smoking completely. That feels good. Also sorta finding out that things are are ok. I mean, I'm doing alright now and they're aren't even half as bad as I make them out to be. Not that I exaggerate the way I feel, I believe my own neurotic rhetoric too. But if feels like the first time in a while that everything is going to be alright and nothing is bound to go horribly wrong. Dad is in the past and dealt with and my confidence and lust for things I love is back too. It's that cliché that I "feel like the same old person again".
And I do.
