This Is Not an iPhone

Some interesting musings in this article about knock-off products from China. Friends of mine just came back from teaching nearby Guangzhou. Most interesting point: China might soon be manufacturing quality goods reverse engineered from the best products in the world. Some groups are even creating complete "shadow companies" modelled from support, engineering, human resources all the way to the executive. Bad part: China is still full of organized crime, shoddy standards for industry, safety and the environment and is generally a shit hole outside capital cities.
The video of the knock-off iPhone is telling however. It really doesn't function the same way. In reality we're far away from knock-off Apple products for all that do more and cost less.
