Ives Got a Secret
Jan. 15th, 2008 01:15 am It was written today on Gizmodo that lots of Sir Jonathan Ive's design for Apple is inspired by 1960's Braun designs. Remember that's "brown" not "brawn". Actually it looks a little less "inspired by" and a lot more plagiarized when it comes to the iPod/iPhone calculator.
Now Braun is owned by Proctor and Gamble after being bought in 1984 by, Eww, Gillette. Makers of the Gillette® Fusion™ 5-blade razor and the Venus Divine™ for the ladies. Which have to be two of the most insipid product names today. I love these woman who fancy themselves a "diva kitten goddess angel" or whatever. No, your name is Shirley. You're a dental secretary and you have hairy legs. So Braun doesn't care about good design because they make stupid shavers, subsciption model razor blades and other boring ugly mass market shit for P&G.
Get inspired all you'd like Ives.
