"We ought to fire the President and get a new one"

"Instead of creating jobs, for example, we are losing millions of jobs -- net losses for three years in a row. That hasn't happened since the Great Depression. As I've noted before, I was the first one laid off."

"The 2001 winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics, George Akerlof, went even further last week in Germany when he told Der Spiegel, "This is the worst government the US has ever had in its more than 200 years of history... This is not normal government policy." In describing the impact of the Bush policies on America's future, Akerloff added, "What we have here is a form of looting.""
And there's lots more. Go read!

He's just amazingly awful... like "destroy the nation" awful - and what's most insane is that a lot of people seriously don't feel that way. Hell, a lot of them think he's *literally* the "chosen of god" waging the wars of prophecy against the antichrist.

Well..considering the antichrist should be associated with earthly physical pleasures like uhm...money, power, love, sex, pride...and none of that is getting any easier during Bush's tenure..maybe he really is waging a war against the antichrist ;-)

I take it the "he" you mean is Bush, not Gore. ;)

Unless Gore has started waging war in the Middle East while I was stirring my oatmeal...

I want a recall. Seriously. I don't think I can wait until the election.

As if. He's making lots of money, power and pride for himself. As for the sex and love, well he is fundamental so likely very repressed.

I hate biblical terms like "anti-christ" and "messiah". They're absolutely anarchronistic ways of looking at a world that exsists mostly in infinite shades of grey.

I love how you took that completely literally ;-)

Well it wasn't like you inflected any sort of tone. Yay, let's argue semantics!

That is why, lately I'm almost kicking around the idea of moving over there instead of the Twin cities. Because, this country is going to hell and most people don't see it, in fact I think there helping it go that way. You should hear some of the people I have to listen to, where I work. They are praising bush for all that he is doing for this country. And I'm like getting every other country in the world (including allies) perturbed at the US is a good thing. I try when I can to watch the BBC News just to hear the things the US news doesn't report on or doesn't want to.

Fire the president

I hate to say this, but we can blame all the well intentioned people who voted for Ralph Nader for Bush.

I love Nader and many of the things he stands/stood for, but the arguement that Gore was going to be just like Bush is and was ridiculous. Does anyone think Gore would be doing the kinds of things Bush is now?

Due to the close election, it seems to me (though I could be wrong) that Gore could have easily won if not for Nader.

The two party system may not be perfect, or ideal, or even that great. But unfortunetly it is the reality.
