Sweet mother mary my fore-arms hurt. I play instruments and type incessantly so I've always been prone to repetitive stress injuries but lord-a-leapin' I can't even bar a power chord without whatever muscles connected to whatever tendon in my fore-arm cramping like a sonofabitch.

It's probably 'cause I've actually been practicing viola lately, given my pending audition for placement at IMC.

Does anyone know any excercises or anything to relieve the tension?

Stretching.

One must properly stretch the tendons and muscles before you have an extended run of playing.

There was a set of arm, wrist, and finger stretches I used to do when I was contrabassing daily, it helps immensely. It reduces much of the fatigue that your muscles and tendons go through during extended periods of exertion.

have to agree... stretching and finger exercises kept me healthy in college during those 9-10 hour practice sessions. Sometimes it helps to NOT hold the instrument.
