Did the viola thing this morning. Same old, same old. That orchestra has a great lower strings section and not much else. Those violins need to get their act together.

On the way home there was a garage sale near where we parked the car. No much of not 'cept an orignal Atari. Now, I haven't really revealed my fetish to many but I really get off on old console system and computer systems. Presenty I have in my collection:
  • Commodore 128
  • Commodore 64
  • Atari 2600
  • SNES Rev. 1 with the discoloured plastic bottom piece
  • Sega Genesis Rev.2
  • Sega 32X
  • And now an Atari
But what's best is that it came with a comic book "Atari Force". You see "in the year 2005" after "the collapse" Atari will bring peace and order to the world through the research efforts at the "Atari Institute" and orbiting earth on the "Atari Solar Satelite Station One". I'm gonna scan this and upload it later today, it's good for a laugh.

The other day I saw Vectrex machine in perfect condition with two paddles and like 10 games in a pawn shop window. I woulda jumped on it if they didn't want $50 or I wasn't poor.

Top 10 consoles/computers I'd really dig adding to my collection:
  1. Apple Mac Plus or SE/30
  2. Amiga 500
  3. NeXT slab or cube (this'll never happen unless I slap down thousands, but I can dream)
  4. Non-slot loading NES 2 (it was never available in Canada)
  5. Sega Master System
  6. Turbographix 16
  7. Genesis 1 (the old skewl one with the headphone jack and volume control
  8. Apple ][gs They're impossible to find but tons of fun. Delux Paint ][ rocked so bad.
  9. Atari Jaguar (just for Tempest 2000)
  10. SNK NEO GEO
Four days, 7 hours, 56 minutes and 31 seconds. 51 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11.15. Life saved: 4 hours, 15 minutes.

Man, don't get me started on the Amiga. They were marvellous machines. My first computer was an Amiga 500, and it set me on a road I've never left.

There are still a lot of hardcore Amiga fans around the world. One of the lead programmers at my company had an Amiga 1000 in his office until just last year, and there was another hardcore Amiga fan in the thesis labs I was in at university.

A lot of people are still waiting for an Amiga comeback too. It was the cover article on one of the IEEE magazine issues last year.

I'll see if I can find a copy of that article.

I have the issue of Spectrum with the Amiga article. It talks about how the system developed, what was good about it, and what its weaknesses were.

Atari could have had the Amiga, but they didn't get it. Thought I doubt things would have turned out very different.

I've got my old 500 sitting in my closet. Want it?

I'm holding onto the 2000 and 1200, though. ;o)

Naw, keep it man! And appreciate it. That Amiga prolly did you a whole world of good.

'Sides, half the fun of collecting these things is stumbling into them on lazy saturday mornings like today.

But thanks! *hugs*

Actually I had one for a while and lost it when I moved. Even had the orignal box. Something about the packaging of the time conjures up such deep nostalgia. Right down to the CFC emitting styrofoam.

Cool....another colsole junkie! :)

4. Dreamcast
5. Sega Genesis (series 2 w/ 32x & CD add-on)
6. Jaguar (w/CD add-on)

Ah, but which 3DO would you get? There's the Panasonic model with the tray loading CDROM and the JVC model with the cheaper lid-loading system.

I'd be all about a 3DO just because of one title, Star Control 2, which I was crazy about on the PC. The 3DO version has voice overs that no other edition has.

What's an APF M-1000?

Here in the states it was pretty much the Panasonic tray system or the Goldstar lid one....I'd get the Panasonic one.

The APF system is a fairly rare system made by a calculator company. Here's a link where you can see a photo and the histiry of the system. I have the stand alone unit. Graphically it's about the same as a 2600 (maybe a little worse)

Since we are all skipping down memory lane, I'll list what I used to have/still have:

1) Commodore VIC-20 (w/ the cassette tape storage unit)
2) Commodore 64 (w/ a 1541 5 1/4" floppy drive)
3) Commodore 128 (w/ a 1571 floppy drive and later a 1581 3 1/2" drive)
4) NES
5) SNES
6) N64

I loved all my Commodores..especially the 128 which had those 3 modes you could "boot" into. Wow, talk about a wicked flashback. :)
