Saw Paul (
zer0ith) this evening. We were bored and both had done the turkey thing so we drove out to Brantford.
Yeah, Brantford. There's nothing there except a Charity Casino and many Tim Horton's. So we got coffee and hung out in deserted sub-suburban strip malls gawking at just how fugly they are when you aren't distracted by the cars for a short while and drove back.
I'd just like to point out to everyone that Paul is like family to me. I've never had a better friend longer in my life than him.
I feel a story coming on.
Paul and I met in 1986. Although we were in different Grade 1 classes we still met and hung out during recess. Paul was in Mrs. Lewis' class I believe and I was in Mrs. Hurdon's. In retrospect I realize what a huge bull dyke Mrs. Hurdon was. Or perhaps not, alas I digress.
For the longest time I lived 'round the corner from Paul. We'd have many birthday party sleep overs, saturday afternoon bike rides on the rail trail to sulphur springs and lazy sunday afternoons playing nintendo. I think before I came out was the only time we were distant but that was a universal thing with everyone I knew. And even though I value my other old friends a lot I don't think I've been closer with anyone other than Paul. Again he's like family. It's hard to explain.
Thanks Paul, you're awesome.
