Oct. 18th, 2001 10:53 pmYou know what LJ needs for paid users? A content manager. A simple-as-heck content manager for non-text media.
I'm sure they could do it with one server with a lot of storage. It doesn't even have to be part of the lj source code. Just an Apache setup with some simple mod_perl adjustments to only dish out content if the referring url is from the livejournal.com domain and a simple script that'll store content from POST headers into the user's home directory. It'd totally enhance the "user experience" for those people without webspace or savvy to use FTP. Oh, and some simple LJ tags to ease the trouble of writing urls to link or embedded the media.
Compared to the stuff they've done in the past it's rather simple. But it doesn't mean I'm capable or willing to do it. :P
