FROM THE BACK OF THE FILM

You said "Shut up or I'll shoot you"
You look so good with a gun
but your hat doesn't suit you

If I were fearless
I'd take a bullet
AND IMPRESS MY FRIENDS
But who impressed when I get so depressed?
I'm alone at the cinema again.

WHEN I WAS 17..

I took a trip with my family
and drove around in a van
I spent some time in some cities
Went to Seattle,
the Rocky Mountains
and the Potato state
But how do you feel when you're behind the wheel?
And love can control your fate.

They were playing this song again during break between classes, very Rocky Horror. I fucking love retro-rock and Ontario is fulla bands in the genre. Thrush Hermit, Sloan, The Flashing Lights and Danko Jones to name a few.

Ok, I gotta go rock out this essay now. You could say I have a bounce in my step today.

Yeah, originally they were. Now based out of Toronto, or at least their bassist/drummer Chris Murphy is. I seem him around your neighbourhood whenever I'm in Toronto. I figure he must live around there.

I know this comment is really late, but.. I couldn't resist..

It's really unfortunate that those bands you mentioned go virtually unnoticed here in the U.S. Sloan seems to be finally be getting some more attention in the states, but it's too little too late, as Sloan has basically given the U.S. the middle finger. When the Flashing Lights were in Seattle last, there was absolutely no promotion, and the show was a bust. That sucked. I love those bands! The Flashing Lights are amazing, as well the SuperFriendz before them. It's too bad that it's so fucking difficult for those bands to book shows in the states, but they're definitely worth trips up to Vancouver to see them. My friend Chris (from Death Cab for Cutie) and I have discussed forming a Canadian rock cover band to help drum up some interest in those bands. Plus it's fun.

Hey Brodie, I've really been enjoying your posts. I wish I was half as bright, and cool, as you are when I was your age.
