Shopping excites me like pornography.
Nov. 21st, 2001 04:34 pmWent to IKEA. I really don't enjoy it as much as I used to. I guess I'm just getting to be an old fart. Bought a new bed for Dad, an Armoire for me and a filing cabnet for Aaron. Next trip we will go looking for a new couch for the living room although I must say I really don't like many of their couches under $800. Not that I have expensive taste but their lower-grade seating looks like stuff you'd see in the lobby of a failed dot-com. The blocky forms and solid colours just don't turn my crank like they did in 1996. *shrug*
Got a hair cut, just something simple. Long on top, short on the sides. Also picked up the Squarepusher - My Red Hot Car single for $4. I own Go Plastic but I wanted the B-sides. Which are, in classic warp style really fucking weird. I like weird, I'm a weird guy.
Now to assemble all this stuff.

Kodaly pronounced Co-Die.
Nov. 21st, 2001 11:08 pmSo it turns out the mystery quartet was The Kodaly String Quartet! Like Naxxos recording artist the Kodaly Quartet! (Ok, maybe I'm the only one who's really really excited, give me my moment)
They played th Haydn's Quartet in G major (Op. 77, No.1), Verdi's String Quartet in E Minor (1873) and Beethoven's Quartet in E Minor (Op. 59, No. 2). The Allegro moderato from the Haydn was flawless, you can tell these guys are recording artists. The rest of the performance was, of course, amazing until their Presto from the Beethoven which the 1st Violinist absolutely flew with little broken interval decorations. There was no encore though which makes sense as the programme was long and they have a reputation to keep up so they wouldn't play anything but meticulously rehearsed music.
