So it turns out the mystery quartet was The Kodaly String Quartet! Like Naxxos recording artist the Kodaly Quartet! (Ok, maybe I'm the only one who's really really excited, give me my moment)
They played th Haydn's Quartet in G major (Op. 77, No.1), Verdi's String Quartet in E Minor (1873) and Beethoven's Quartet in E Minor (Op. 59, No. 2). The Allegro moderato from the Haydn was flawless, you can tell these guys are recording artists. The rest of the performance was, of course, amazing until their Presto from the Beethoven which the 1st Violinist absolutely flew with little broken interval decorations. There was no encore though which makes sense as the programme was long and they have a reputation to keep up so they wouldn't play anything but meticulously rehearsed music.
