Hung out at Lorenzo's last night. Just chillaxed with the old crew from Westdale scoring tunes off audiogalaxy, playing playstation and throwing back drinks. I finally had an opportunity to see the last episode of Star Trek Voyager. Rather disappointing but worth finally seeing. They get back home, go figure eh?

Aaron ([livejournal.com profile] tootired) had a job interview today for his co-op. He got the placement at some sort of asbestos removal firm in Mississauga. It's in his field (environmental chemical eng) and pays rather well. I'm really proud of him. During the time he was out at the interview I got to spent some time alone with my Grandad. He's a really sweet guy and terribly with it for 75. I made him some apple cinnamon pancakes and djarling tea as he loves maple syrup. We're sending him home with 8L of it ;)

Today will be low key. Just organizational things around the house I need to do. I've also detected a sore throat coming on. After last year's NYE experience at the box I almost expected one this year, although the incubation period of whatever cold bug must be long than a few days. So it might turn into one of those "laying back on an angora covered chaise lounge with a Daniel Steel romance novel spooning low-fat yogurt daintily into my mouth while listening to Yani" days. I mean, monster trucks and chix with monster tits! Grrr.

But seriously, I'm hyping up for school. Clearing my mind and focusing on what is going to be a very critical time.

I'm looking forward to when Aaron gets to work, Grandad goes home and Dad goes off to Welland to do his certifcation with Transport Canada. That would be next monday. I need my space again, I've almost become acustom to not having it for a while. But I want to be able to turn up the mix, experiement with blaring guitar tones and generally make a racket again. It's been too long stepping on egg shells and stuck in the inaccurate world of headphones. I know I'm losing my edge, I was starting to get good about a month ago.

Paul, can you make some time for me this weekend? I wanna check my HDD in your boxen to see if it's fried or not. I'm really hoping not, I have lots of stuff on there that's not backed up :(

In other news I shaved my head. It seems to be something I do around this time of year. Not for the esthetic really, but that my psirosis gets really bad in the dry winter weather and removing my hair exposes it to UV rays that help my skin. Also it makes appling my meds much easier. I'm getting deja vu here, I'm sure I've been over this territory around the same time last year. It's also a ritual thing which I suppose implies devotion a right now I'm very devoted to getting on with things.

Only three days of idle time really left. Then it's on the ball and off to the races. I may sound like a broken record, but the concept of being out of here in less than a year really excites me. I also feel experienced enough being around my friends who've already made this leap to learn from their mistakes. To spend money wisely, stay away from drugs and work really hard. I know it's all talk right now, but I think if I can keep my conviction I'll do well.

I want success, I want it so bad I can taste it's cherry mentholyptis syrup centre. Oh, that's just the loszenge in my mouth. *drum break*

Songs I want to cover:

  1. Lo-Fidelity Allstars - Battleflag
You can't deny the underworldy goodness of this song and pure bitched out, anarchistic brit attitude of this tune. It'd be a trip to speed metal it up a bit, really chug away at the riffs on the guitar.

  2. The Smashing Pumpkins - Everlasting Gaze
Not at all original. Only because it combines the electro/new wave chic rhythms the pumpkins dabbled with on The Aeroplane Flies High and Adore with the pure unadulturated phat arena rocking, nu-metal tone.

  3. Aphex Twin - Girl/Boy Song
This one's a bit of a pipe dream really. I don't have the technical ability to do those wacky snare rushes. But the string arrangement is dead simple.
