Odd, I had all sorts of commentary right here and LJ ate it. Including some non-expert commentary on the withholding of equal marriage in Canada. Anyhow it came down to this: don't sweat it, we're still solid.
The Conservatives made modest gains but were unable to match the number of seats the Liberals attained in 2004. There are 10 more NDP Members of Parliament going to Ottawa meaning better representation for a number of things I care about. This is very good counter balance swinging for social justice in this country. As well as other stuff that I care about like the importance and value of cities as well as the natural environment.
All things said and done I am pleased with the results given the climate. It's a nice safe distance to court the conservative element in the country, reveal it for what it is and have the popular vote run far, far away.
Best of all my NDP MP for Hamilton Mountain was re-elected. As well as an NDP for Hamilton Central.
