My Third Job: LAZERFIST-ing
Nov. 8th, 2006 12:02 pmIn my six year career as a raving LGay bloggist I've made but few blog apologies. "Oh I'm sorry I've been out having a life my precious internet friends", that sorta thing. I try to remedy this by taking photos but my camera is big in my pocket and requires regular charging. It's just not in tune with my medium sized city discount bo-ho lifestyle.
So if you still remain only mildly interested and wanna keep reading I will write below a run-down of what's going on with busy ol' me.
Most immediately is the LAZERFIST (née Squirrel Cage) gig this very Thursday, November 9th at the Casbah. In addition to the regular suspects we've now added not only one but TWO non-programmable flesh percussionists. I believe this means the band needs to give it some pretentious NPR/CBC name like "drumming in the round" or "beats in sequence" or something lame like that. It's pretty cool to have talented guys from two different prominent local bands playing in ours.
We're recording an album too! Ok, so we've been recording it on our own since about July but now Mike Ford is doing the hard work. We just show up, play and watch him do some magic. There might be a deadline that develops for the record but until then we're just rehearsing, record and gigging as much as we can.
I'm going to begin work on an assessment process regarding a museum for the remains of a large semi-conductor company that once made many a vacuum tube here in The Hammer. It's super good money, great for my CV and my three other co-workers are awesome hard working people. It's possible this could still fall through the cracks but the proposal is on the table as of this morning.
I'm leaving for Ireland, Portugal and Spain in just under two weeks! Holy crap! Bootin' around the EU with a gaggle of hot gays, it's going to be intense. I intend on being shit-faced at least once every 48hrs. Even if everyone else is stone cold sober... sorry guys. It's gonna be weird though, I haven't hung out with gays particularly in like months. I'm not too worried though, it only takes a small scratch to the surface to reveal the blinding light of my inner Grrlfriend.
