Splintered regions and different legions
Jan. 9th, 2002 05:15 pmSo Grandad packed into his box and fedex'ed just fine. We splurged for overnight shipping, it can be awfully cramped in that box. No bathroom and all.
Lesson tonight, Aaron's late from work. He's dealing with Toronto traffic for the first time in his life. No doubt loving every minute. That means I eat alone.
Sorta nice having space, got to rock out with the guitar today for a while. Pretty muc as soon as Grandad was gone.
Off to Viola in an hour, I'm so very not practiced for it but I'm sure I'll do ok.
In other news I think my teeth are falling out. I brush religiously and have for ages. Never had a cavity in my life, but it seems my gums won't stop bleeding lately. Perhaps my devotion more than love to oral hygene is backfiring? Dentist appt isn't 'till March. Hopefully I won't be a toothless troll by then.

One word for you:
Date: 2002-01-09 02:24 pm (UTC)I had the bleeding gum problem last year, and it was mostly because I hadn't had a professional cleaning in ages and I don't floss, so all kinds of bad things had started happening to my gums. If garbage starts to build up under your gums, they will get infected which will cause the gums to start pulling away from the teeth which is where the bleeding comes from. It's basically the beginning stages of gum disease. It's treateable if you catch it early enough, but a big problem if you don't. No amount of brushing will help this problem, as the bristles don't get to the affected areas. Only flossing and using a good antiseptic mouthwash are effective.
And yes, my dentist gives me $5 everytime I repeat this spiel.

Good luck, Brodie!

Four Words
Date: 2002-01-10 02:46 am (UTC)on bleeding gums...
Date: 2002-01-11 08:12 pm (UTC)anyway, the key is flossing. although you may bleed while flossing for the first little while, it's the only way you can get rid of gunk near/under your gums on a daily basis.
you see, it's rather counter-intuitive. i told my dentist i stopped flossing because i bled every time i did it. he said the converse was true, and that not flossing is the worst decision. you've been lucky to not have to floss thus far.
however, it's completely healable. good regular professional cleanings (you may need to do some at 3-month intervals for the first year or so) will also help. i find my electric toothbrush, when used properly, is great a massaging my gums.
cheers!
