Ya know, some times I see old down and out characters on the bus and wonder what circumsnces brought them there. I figure it's probably beyond there control. Uncaring children or widowed to a chumd who only left her dept. Maybe it's a system that only treats mental illness if you're a threat to others.

One can only guess.

You should see Richmond. There were three mental hospitals here until the late 1970's when President Carter closed many of them. All three closed, and released the "non-dangerous" patients into the public. Many of them now live in halfway houses by night, and wander around by day. I haven't decided in 8 years how I feel about them.
