Feb. 5th, 2002 10:12 pmOk, so I'm doing a fantasy stock market challenge somewhat against my brother (
tootired).
Now, paypal has an IPO coming up on my birthday. Stocks are being sold on NASDAQ for $12-15 on the 7th.
Now does anyone know how you find out the ticker name of an IPO? Do I have to wait until the day they start selling shares? 'Cause the ticker lookup seems to be no good.
PS. I'm also trying to diversify my portfolio by investing in Citigroup which is behind the new competitor to paypal called "c2it". Thing is, Citigroup has sooo many different stocks. I'm not sure which one is related to c2it.
I know tech stocks are totally toxic right now, but I think the small online money transfers market is a really big deal.

Date: 2002-02-05 11:15 pm (UTC)You can find out about new IPOs at http://www.edgar-online.com/. They have all of the SEC filings. According to this (http://www.edgar-online.com/ipoexpress/search.asp?searchstring=PayPal&searchdb=company&searchfield=name&cobrand=edgar-online%2Fneweol&x=25&y=7) the symbol is gonna be "PYPL".
Take care,

Date: 2002-02-06 10:04 pm (UTC)IPO shares are offered at a fixed-price (the IPO price). They aren't traded at market price, which is what happens on a stock exchange.
