Plan one of two

So I've had it banging around in my head for a while that it'd rock to have an LJ bear run right here in the great white north. Now Chicago and Wisconsin have been done, but the unique flavor that is Toronto has not been sampled. Where better for a bunch of hairy fags to party then the city with the worlds largest phallice piercing the sky?

Now, I'm just testing the water here to get people's thoughts on the concept. I know if I do plan to organize this I will need some help and I will definitly be working my butt off. But I'm sure I'm up to the challenge.

Dude this is a good Idea. But It needs to be pulled off by someone who isn't devoting all his time to studying.

This is true, it was my subtle intention to at least get the idea out there first. Then see where it goes from there.

I think even if we can get a small gathering going on (leave the hardcore shit to the talented chicagowoof for the summer it'd rock the casbah!

Nope, not doing summer school. It's a big waste of time, all summer for one credit. Bleh!

Another thing to consider on the timeframe is TO Pride! I'm not sure how many of the hotels are booked but it was awesome 2 years ago when I got to see John, Iain and Scotty while I was there. Probably a long shot.
An idea for an 'other' event would be grabbing some time at an internet cafe.
Any ideas for a 'lodge' where everyone can stay at the same place or in the same b&b/hotel?

Actually I think your idea can definitely be done, I had a much nuttier idea a while back of having one in Maine, but Maine is far from being a fabulous place for a bunch of big hairy homos to hang... Portland's awesome, but I live an hour away from it and *still* don't have my *curse-curse* driver's license...

After the event in May, I was considering an LJ Bear Run in Toronto. *GRIN* :)

I think the most important thing about the run in Chicago was the fact that everything was laid back. There were three main events setup. Meet & Greet and dinner, Matinee movie and dinner on Saturday, Dim Sum on Sunday. The rest was all at your leisure. It worked well.

Yeah, the unstructured concept works fantastically. It'd be sorta lame to be all "NOW WE'RE ALL GOING TO THE TOOLBOX AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT *WHIPCRACK*" but at the same time to get the best out of the city there needs to be perhaps suggestions as good places to go on and hang out as a group such that everyone can be satisfied.

I'm more than happy to do the patented bear pub crawl. What we did during the Great Canadian Bear Hunt was to get the guys on a strong and I led them around various bars. *GRIN* :)

Muther's Guesthouse at the Toolbox would be THE perfect place for everyone to stay. Unfortunately the new owners are planning on doing away with Muther's... so.. who knows where we can setup a place to stay. Hmmm...
