Ok, so I gotta clear something up. I know a lot of the time I come off as pretty negative and morose. Even extremist perhaps to some. That's all a matter of perspective. I prefer questioning over complacency, just the way I am. To be honest I know it causes me a great deal of anguish and discomfort but I hope that it's beneficial to my whole being in the end. That I become a wiser person for it.

No pain, no gain.

Gonna go have a nice long shower, change my sheet and fall deadly asleep. Still waiting for my hair to grow in so I can get a nice cut. Not sure what I want.. something that'll grow in nicely. The obligatory "before" vanity shot can be seen here.

I'm wondering if questioning is a Canadian trait. *GRIN* I do the same thing Brodie.

I think it's more a sign of intelligence than a fine cultural moire, personally. Are Canadians more intelligent? Of course. We're also all pyro-kinetic, super athletic and hung like dick pumping elephants.

I'm Serious.

Now the serious post:

Questioning is always good. It's one of the reasons I'm running the SETI@home project on my computer. I'm questioning the idea that humans are the end-all-be-all lifeform in the whole entire universe. Chance of success? Slim to none, but it makes me feel better to help prove the naysayers wrong. Current statistics for the project have 3,592,391 users, returning 463,914,606 Processed Work Units, a total of 909,836.205 years in CPU cycles donated by people in over 200 countries around the world. Guess you and I are not the only ones doing some questioning.

I don't thin SETI is so much active questioning as much as searching. Although it leads in the same direction.

As someone once said...."The destination is unimportant, all that matters is the journey." Each step leads to another, than another....repeat into a lifetime. To the journey.

Questioning is good, but I think many people try to live in a world that is too large. Much frustration comes from this.

Everything is worth questioning, but if doesn't come back to the questioner in some way, even remote and contrived, it is best an amusement for passing time and filling conversations with people not more deeply involved in our own lives. In fact such things fill the majority of conversation and make up the minority of consequence.

An inability to put away questions which say nothing about oneself is a very dangerous thing, I'm sure everyone reading this knows someone who has become so involved in some political issue, world event, or distant person's crisis that it has affected them emotionally even though they are in no way involved. This can be painful, and while so involved most people never think to ask why they feel attatched to whatever is consuming their thoughts, missing the largest opportunity for growth that concern in unreachable things presents.

The short verson: I think it is best to keep my real questions close to home.

Perhaps what you say is true. I know that I have found myself in the above situation. I'm just not ready to give up hoping I can make some kind of difference yet.

Oh dear, you mean my little secret's out?

On the actual topic of your posting, though, your LJ entries or what little I've seen of your public behaviour, never struck me as especially morose or self-indulgent-woe-is-me-ish. I sometimes see you being disappointed in things or people... nothing wrong with that, IMO, unless it's making your life joyless and dismal :)

Ya see I think I was making my life a little joyless. I tend to keep my threshold of criticism just below that point. Ah, the joy of self-psychoanalysis!

Very cute pic. :)

And you are who you are. Everyone has their perspectives and ways of expressing them. You don't have to explain or defend yourself. We like you for who you are or we wouldn't be here reading and posting. Take care.

Shucks darn tex, thanks.

You're right, I tend to explain those trends in myself that I don't like though.

You take care too!
