So I did HECE today. It was good to be back after I fucked up last week. Straight from 5:30-8pm without a break, which I actually kinda like because you can really ride the energy without getting diced up with periods of non-musicality. Mrs. Spleit was especially critical of my playing, as was expected and I took it with a smile.

Paul picked me up and we ended up back at my place for pizza. We watched Kink. I dunno what to say about that show... all the case studies are the most extraordinarily blown-up head cases. It's not that their fucked-up-ness makes them kinky, it's just that the producers seem to choose very unlikeable people. I don't make a point of watching that show.

I've watched that show.

The more I learn about BDSM, the more I'm convinced that it really is like Star Trek fandom or the Renaissance Fair. And not just because there's such an overlap in members between the groups.

Remember, those people in the show Kink are going to BDSM sex clubs, where things are safe and there are plenty of people around, so they aren't actually playing with trust issues.

They like it because they like to dress up in the leather costumes, because they think the costumes are cool, and they dress up their apartments to look like their fantasy world (a dungeon), and they like to hang around others who indulge in the same collective fantasy. It's all just like a Star Trek convention.

And, of course, you don't have to be a headcase to go to a Star Trek convention. But for some reason there never seems to be a shortage of them there.

So yeah. BDSM clubs are for nerds.
