I have a feeling this is going to be even bigger news soon.

I can't get over the proliferation of trojans/scumware lately. You could almost suggest that the music industry is behind these companies trying to disprove the online music distribution business model or something. I dunno if that'd be effective, but hey our federal governments came up with the DMCA and SSSCA.

I had some left-overs from the b3d projector uninstall and I'm glad I got rid of them. I hate spy/scum-ware! I think it was leftover when I installed LimeWire again and realized it installed a bunch of junk with it.

Just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

For sure. Gator's pop-up downloads (as opposed to pop-up ads) have been annoying me for a while now, too. As I recall from Naomi Klein's NO LOGO, the thoery of marketing is that you always have to push for more coverage. Because people will get jaded and used to what you already have, so you have to do more, more agressively. I think that's bullshit. Most of the ads I've seen for a product which have actually enticed me to buy the product have been newspaper/magazine or television ads.

Then, of course, there's this (http://slashdot.org/articles/02/04/07/1952214.shtml?tid=172) regarding how BDE created a "single point of 0wnership." Bad idea, BDE. Very bad.
