Honestly, someone should come up with a word meaning the bastardization of written words by their sounds.

Loose: Not tight.
Lose: To misplace or get rid of.

Peak: Top of a mountain, the pinnacle, the best.
Peek: To glance at quickly, as around a corner.

That's a consistant spelling error mine since as early as the third grade. I usually catch it.
