Bourbon St. Café, Getting out and Friends.
May. 7th, 2002 04:15 amGot out of the house tonight. Went to the Bourbon Street Café in Westdale. They've added a back room with a small bar which is nice. The atmosphere was a kinda.. intimate in that votive candle and dimmer switch way. I guess it'd be a cool place to go on a romantic date. The staff were sorta shocked by our laughing for some reason. I guess they're used to only the din of sweet nothings being whispered into the ears of the patrons. Or something. Went to Queen of Net after to play UT.
Good night, great to see my friends again. Marz is home working at his Dad's lab now and Brender is full time at the Reptile shop. And of course Paul is forever reliable, love him to pieces. I saved myself $200 today thanks to him actually. He had my screwed up 32mb TNT2 and tested it in his computer to discover it worked. Now, you may remember that for a time my main computer was fucked up and after replacing the power supply it still didn't work. Then on a whim we replaced the video card.. and bingo, it sprang to life. I think logically there's little room for error as to the cause of the problem. It's just confusing that this troublesome part now works fine. Although we'll see, it could fail again. Even still it does rock to have a video adapter that's speedy. WinXP isn't very good with crumby video cards even when you scale down the effects in the shell to the bare minimum. Mostly 'cause (having quickly studied the API) the new skinning shell still renders in 32bit colour with alpha transparency regardless if the theme uses it or not. Meaning lots more data to process and move in and out of the display buffer. This being a commercial OS Microsoft (and Apple with OS X) of course would rather push the upgrade envelope than "waste" money developing a backwardsly-scaleable shell.
The Shoutcast server is online tonight for your aureal pleasure. Click here to tune in. All MAPL system Can-rock tonight. Making the CRTC proud, aside from that whole copyright and royalty thing.
I'll be sleeping.
