Well, I tried that "Myname is" meme and found there's a "melodic punk band from Seattle" called Brodie.

Trailor for The Two Towers is out too.

I don't get anything cool because Bill (Gates) is ... is ... is EVERYTHING.

Phooey.

Where are you quoting that from? I don't get that gen-x coupland-esque psychosis personally. I like to keep the author of the book and the actual generation seperate in my mind.

It's a paraphrase of (I think) Southpark, it was so long ago I've forgotten (was it MegaStreisandu?)

I don't take the genX thing too seriously either, it is (merely) a convenient way of talking about those of us living in the shadow of the boomers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, either way being angry about it doesn't get you anywhere. And its use in "GenX Bears" is IMO totally off the mark - GXB is supposed to be for bear-identifed youth (typically that means up to mid 20s), but demographically I am genX and I'm 37.

Although, have I mentioned Mo? Mo is a 55ish boomer, who is into 18-20 y/olds, which in itself is just fine with me as long as the attraction is mutual. But! he rants about "young people today" and how lazy and vapid they are, and how when he was that age he was doing meaningful things like dropping acid and listening to Janis Joplin and performing in Cats. I thought this kind of crap was just a stereotype invented by the Douglas Couplands of the world, until I met Mo.
