Yeah, that's on the Zero 7 "Another Late Night" compilation. I love slum village, they're totally awesome. I mean, they're hip-hop but they also remixed Daft Punk. How cool is that?
ummkay. Long before you played Building a Mystery I was noticing that the singer from Frou Frou sounds a lot like Sarah McLaughlan. Is there a connection? Or I'm I just imagining things.
I can see the connection. They're both girls who sing sweetly. Imogen sounds vaguely like Billy Corgan too, at least at the begining of "let go". I'm talking 1979 style Billy.
I think it was a quality in thier high register vocals that I latched on to. Kind of a breathy, gaspy, thing. Which, like you said, gives them a "sweet" sound. Interesting though, that something kened me to that Idea and then you played the two artists back to back.
I've not downloaded them in like nearly 2 years. I just never really 'got in to it'. But, now.. i'm having SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun.
I've been on music sites cross referencing groups and leapfrogging to find new groups that i might like that are related to other groups. REally giving my system a workout. soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun.
I'll have to share my latest discoveries with you. Finding some really neat groups. My most favorite ( and reason for this post ) "Mouse on Mars". Neat stuff.
Hey.. do you know of any "Indian House" groups/labels/names? You know.. like India indian. wailing chanting diva vocals.. etc?
There isn't Indian House specifically that I've heard at least. I mean other than like Bollywood soundtrack which is sorta OK.. funny more than anything. There are some more tribal groove oriented groups. I'd suggest:
Up, Bustle & Out
Truby Trio
Raw Deal
Anybody who's remixed for Kruder&Dorfmeister really.
What the heck, look into some Bollywood stuff too, it's sorta on the same level as Ital-disco but fun none-the-less.
