So The Hamilton Record and CD Show is this Sunday. There's gonna be tons of vendors and hopefully many records to be bought for cheap. I'm hoping to score a copy of Soft Cell's Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret in mint, otherwise there's a few ebay auctions I could persue. If anyone wants to come along admission's $3, it'll be fun!

I love retro-80s, I know it's very popular right now but I find it so alluring. I figure it's 'cause I was around all this music as a kid and liked it then but had no time to appreciate it.

Hmmm....

YOu know that is available on cd? Or are you just looking to score a mint copy of the vinyl?

Their latest album, Cruelty without Beauty, is almost as brilliant as Non Stop Erotic Cabaret.

: )

Oh it's totally available on CD, there's even a re-master edition. But I want the vinyl. I have this thing.. I buy vinyl and just download the MP3s in a lot of cases. It meets all my needs.

Juuuuust curious.

If you like neo-retro 80's/New wavey stuff, I'm sure you've heard of "The Faint" right?

Yup, had Danse Macabre since it came out. It's a fun album, I'd love to see them live! There is of course Ladytron, Mount Sims, DMX Krew, Charles Manier, Legowelt etc. all in the same vein.

Rawkin' I like that album. I remember first hearing it on 3wk internet radio. My little goth brother of course already had the album so I just borrowed if from him. Thanks for the name dropping, I must go listen now!

Hey, are DMX Krew, Charles Manier, and Leogwelt just appearing on the disco Nouveau Addendum
as artists? ok..wait n/m I just asnwerd my own question because I can not spell Nouveau and I had to open the txt file.. This stuff is quality. I have been listening to various artists like plaid, nobukazu tekemura, and now this stuff.. but I still don't know any of the jargon really.. IDM, elctro, electroclash..
I feel like I'm moving away from the harder techno to something else now. (Though I will always be loyal!) I have a lot of drug / conditioning theories that I'm applying to this :) I am probably going to pick up buying records again when I move out. I believe I'm going for deep house... in the meantime I will listen to my mean collection of Mp3's gathered from my friends in missouri and in hamilton.

Electro/electroklash is really a retro-progressive movement towards older electronic sounds. It's pretty trendy right now.

IDM is a little more creative and progressive. There's a lot of newer sounds here mostly aided by cheaper gear in the form of digital instruments (VST/VSTi etc). Noteable artists include: Akufen, Farben, Matmos.. lotsa others.

If you guys are looking for good deals, i hear going near the end is the best..cause they're usually trying to get rid a lot of their overstock.
