Well I just gotta say that it sucks to see at least two friendships come to dramatic ends today. I dunno either story conclusively nor do I really care to. Although I must say I was sorta turned off by all the glee, sarcastic or not, that people seem to exude in losing friends. I suppose this is some sort of coping mechanism. I also seemed to notice that people doing this are also those who live in big cities where there are lots of people to turn to if a friendship or relationship goes sour.
I don't live in a huge city, well at least not a very gay city. Hamilton is just a bit smaller than San Francisco and covers a huge landmass. Toronto is nearby but not close enough, a good hour with normal traffic. I've also never really been to a bear run. So to me my gay friends are fairly precious and I keep all my friends very close. It's not like I've been without drama, oh baby I've seen my fair share. Trust me on that one. But I've also managed with few exceptions to keep at least in amicable contact with those I've known and even loved. Sure some people are just plain old nuts but I haven't got to know any of those types too personally. Usually the psycho alarms go off pretty early.
I guess it's easier and more fun to say "har har, look at this loser I dumped! He's such a psycho!" on LJ to your clutch of fags rather to say your sorry, make ammends or bring closure to your relationships with people. I mean it's a guaranteed comment whore gangbang!
It's just something that I've learned these things are best done in private with the parties involved. Turning it into a public witch burning is just downright mean. I'd be crushed if I found out somebody did that to me. And trust me LJ security may be solid but word still gets around. I guess to some people are just disposeable commodities. Which is a shame because we all feel and we're all pretty fragile when it comes down to it, no matter how much macho machismo you put on the outside. I'm not religious but this always rings true:
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Date: 2003-05-08 05:45 pm (UTC)You seem to be dealing with the situation well, so, I'll spare you the speech.
Just remember that people learn life's lessons in their own sweet time.
But, it's nice yo see you've moved forward from this. Some people wouldn't.
