i admit in jr. high, i had an "all-black"/morbid/semi-goth phase that persisted even after Columbine...yeah, that was a glamour thing... it died partway thru my freshman year in HS thanks to Mrs. Greenberg's world history class, new interest in world religions, and a smashing new earth-tone wardrobe!
I agree with the demoncleaner. Most kids that go to punk shows are in that age where there's a healthy element of "fashion" involved in their choice of rebellion. However, there's also usually a number of kids who are earnest about what they're doing and why they're there.
When I go out, I usually concentrate on the music instead of judging the audience. It's a lot easier to have a good time that way.
It's talking to the kidz afterwards that can be really... cute.
AAAahhhhhh... there's your mistake! If I'm not with friends, I'll usually lurk in corners while doing my best not to look like a boytoucher.
The photo thing also kind of relegates me to "other" status when I go to shows. I'll pretty much be ignored unless there are other photo kidz in the audience that want to talk shop.
I suppose at this stage in my life being around kids should make me a little bitter and uncomfortable.
