It occured to me that I bought a lot of records between the years of 1996-1999. After that point things really start to dwindle... I suppose that's where my vinyl fetish starts to rear it's hissing, popping and crackling head. Or maybe when I bought my cable modem and CD burnder... hmmm.

I still feel so... 90's today. Ironically that's a show on Much Music right now which only makes me feel further outmoded. I mean I can front with my nu-jazz, IDM and breakcore but we all know that at this point I'm inevitably fumbling towards middle-age.

Yup, there's no going back now. Bring forth the "Chill Out" mixes, retro-90's compilations and herbal tea, for today I declare myself officially 20-something!

You kid, but you may be more right than you know.
One's passion for music, for some reason, is especially concentrated in one's teen years.
Of course, since you're a musician yourself, you may be immune...

I agree with you on that one. The desire to seek out GOOD new music has faded in me anyway to a certain degree . It can be alot of work sifting through all the bad, when you can just take out an old trusty CD to listen to instead. I'm a musician too...so not even sure that makes you immune!

Well, I continue to seek out good new music, but by the beginning of the nineties I started doing it by reading reviews instead of listening to Muchmusic or the radio, which to my ears plays nothing but excrement these days.

Geez, listen to me - I am getting old.

Let's just say you're getting wiser. heh.

Radio sucks (except for the rare public radio stations with diverse programming).

You guys still have MuchMusic? They changed it to "Fuse" over here. And I like it cuz they just play music. Not necessarily music I wanna hear, but music nonetheless.

And if you don't like Avril, you're no longer with it. But you'll survive.

Just remember some sage advice given by Abraham Simpson... "I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it' anymore and what's 'it' seems weird and scary."

Welcome aboard. Yes, I've had many a hot night sitting on my futon looking at Xmas lights and my aquarium listening to Santessa and Zero 7...

last summer, i had a whole big huge retro-90s/late 80s thing going on KaZaA - Technotronic, 4 Non-Blondes, Gin Blossoms, Live, Collective Soul, the Cranberries, Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, Ace of Base....total nostalgiafest.

at the moment, i have only 3 vinyl releases - two Smashing Pumpkins 2xLPs (Adore and MACHINA) and a fulflej 7" (Work In This Universe. i do not, however, have a turntable...go fig. i'm gonna need to get one sometime, however, as i'm very tempted to pick up Borko's vinyl-only Trees and Limbo EP (ahhh, Goodwill, i hear your call...)

and damn you for having MuchMusic...i want that SO badly *smacks US cable services*

I was observing that I was "inevitably fumbling towards middle-age" not actually middle-aged. Observing the ultimate trend towards that state of mind not actually having it just yet.

And I'll be 22 years old on February 7th, 2004.

I think you're missing out on the tongue-in-cheek humour here...

Tongue (a), meet cheek (b)...

I'll guarantee that in the future (if not now) VH-1 will probably join the bandwagon and create another 10-part series on the 90s probably as soon as they're done with "I Love the 70s". They've already aired "I Love the 80s" and it's played over and over on the network....

Wait, till you start closing in on you mid-30's and that horrible thing happens to music.

Eh it happens...

Why do you think I love retro nights....

It's true, your most favourite music can be found in the years between 14 - 25, after that you search the music compliations bins at the CD stores and only buy greatest hits cd's.

I think the last CD I bought that was totally new music was about 2 years ago.
