Flamebroiled War
Aug. 8th, 2003 12:15 amSo I bought a new BBQ which totally rules.. but Shawn (

asks how it compares to an Apple Powerbook. Instead let's compare two manly machines:
my Broilking Royal 1 and an Apple Powermac G5
Well, after a good 15 seconds of research here's what I've compiled:
| Broilking Royal 1 | Apple Powermac G5 |
|---|---|

And there you have it! Both are really hot, fast and completely different.

Date: 2003-08-08 04:54 am (UTC)Besides, worrying about what is and isn't "manly" is the essence of "unmanly". It's over the line into camp, really - "ooooohhhhhh, that's so *MANLY*!" "Girl, you are simply unmanly in that outfit."
Re: Yes they do
Date: 2003-08-08 05:06 am (UTC)You speak like a dyed-in-the-wool Apple user. "PCs" aren't made by one, monolithic, still largely proprietary, led-by-a-raving-lunatic company. They're made by Dell, HP, IBM, myself, my friends, and people across the world, because we *can.* Because we can collect the parts, put them together, and it'll work, unlike with Apple, where personal construction is pretty much abolished in favor of charging multiple thousands of dollars for a frilly, frou-frou computer for which only the major companies write software for.
PCs may be Maroon Caravans, but Mac are fuckin' Tricycles, dude.

Date: 2003-08-08 07:59 am (UTC)I use both Macs and PCs extensively and I have my preferences about what to use for what job and what not to use.
I'd say it's a fair statement to say that when people think about small computers, they think about using them more than they think about building them. And when they think about using them, they think mostly about the OS, which on PCs is almost always a version of Windows, which is made by one, monolithic, proprietary, led-by-a-lunatic company.
And Windows is like a Maroon Caravan. It gets you to where you want to get but it's a bumpy, rattley ride.
Re: Yes they do
Date: 2003-08-08 08:33 am (UTC)Clever theory. I believe, however, that my track record backs me up when I say that, really, I can't deny that I don't absolutely love to troll.
"And when they think about using them, they think mostly about the OS, which on PCs is almost always a version of Windows, which is made by one, monolithic, proprietary, led-by-a-lunatic company."
I know more than a few people who'd take offense at Windows and standard, universal computer hardware being lumped together like that. Though, I fully admit, most of those people are 30 year-old virgins.
And besides, while Ballmer and company are, admittedly, merely deranged, it takes a true psychopath to say the kinds of things to the press that Jobs does. On computers, paraphrasing, "they don't want to be on their side, they want to sit comfortably on the desk. They want to look like a flower."
And regardless if Windows is a bumpy ride, it's not limited to a few roads that every other system has allready been down years ago.

Date: 2003-08-08 05:08 am (UTC)I'm so manly that it never even crossed my mind whether or not what I said about manliness was manly.
...*thinks*...
Yeah.
