Talked to my Dad today and firmed up plans to go to Scotland... and France. More about France later. Ironically I was kvetching on AIM with [livejournal.com profile] cub4bear about how he hadn't called back when, speak of the demon seed I sprang from, Dad called.
My flight is booked for:
September 20th
Now hopefully people will finally stop bugging me to know when I'm leaving!

On the 20th Dad is off work and takin some vacation time. I'm flying into Gatwick and I'm hoping we're gonna take The Channel Tunnel to Paris. Regardless we will be going to France. Dad is also suggesting time in Belgium too before taking the high road back to Scotland.

Needless to say I'm excited.

I'm also feeling a tad guilty (only a tad) as my Mom has a massive infection in her tear duct which has her eye swollen. As well my brother has broken his foot in a rather nasty way and is hopping around on crutches. They're both pretty stressed out and I'm livin ' the life of Riley, so to speak. Oh well, they will get better. They'd better because I'm already sick of playing nurse around here.

Ray ([livejournal.com profile] stingray1975) was thinking ahead as usual and came by to visit me before I leave for the UK. I had a really nice time just playing girlfriends talking about boys, painting our nails and buying copious amounts of sugar from the local Beckers. It was really nice abstaining from the bar which leaves me richer and healthier.

I've got back to the gym again which has had a real profound and immediate impact on my wellbeing. Important Life Observation: Being active makes me really happy.

Tonight was really nice despite my brother's frustrated and depressed antics. My Mom and I prepared a BBQ with seperate foil pouches of:
  • Pollock or Sole, chives, garlic and corn husks to keep moisture
  • Yellow beans, red peppers, parsley, rosemary and olive oil
  • Potatoes, chives, garlic and olive oil
  • Corn on the cob!
Of all the above foods only the fish was not local, fresh and in season. Positively delishious! I'm going to miss living on the Niagara Peninsula when I'm eating bangers and mash on a dreary November night in Inverness. The variety, quality and affordability of produce is really awesome this time of year in Ontario. But then again there is loads of fine Scotch Whiskey up in the highlands to ease the pain. There's always something else to appreciate.

Bye!

So are you going to keep up LiveBurial while you're in Scotland?

Oh yes, without a doubt! I may not write much while in France and away from a computer but I've been at this journal nearly three years now. I can't give up that easily!

Good. GusMacroy and I would miss you. We talked about it a lunch today. That and something about him and thanksgiving and Scotland.

Yeah, I think he will be importing himself for your fake Thanksgiving giving things working out in a positive manner once I arrive in Inverness.

"There's always something else to appreciate."

That attitude is the best policy, I think. I hope you find a way to keep your journal going over there. I'd like to know what life is like in Scotland as it happens. And, um...I like reading about you. :)

Thank you! I love writing about me.

Wait, that doesn't sound so gracious.

Anyhow, they do indeed have the internet in Scotland. I'm quite excited to begin writing about my prospective experiences!

Of course it goes without saying that I always read you.

I have to totally agree about the produce in that area. My mother lives right across the lake from Toronto. On clear days we can see the cn tower. I think the corn in that area is the best I've ever had and I am all about the fresh fruit (apples, strawberries, blueberries, etc) that is grown right around the corner from my mothers house. It brings back a lot of childhood memories to be around that area in the summer ...especially while grilling..mmm..

Congratulations

Good luck.

When is your return date?
Do you have your work permit yet?

My return flight is within 9 months of departure so I can negotiate that at any time.

I have my UK VAF1 Visa application form. I have a prospective employer and lots of family in the country including a parent. Should I submit it now or do it from the UK? My plan was to do it in the UK to prevent communication delay.

Thanks!

I don't think you're allowed to submit it from within the UK.
Do it now.

Me = excited (for you) + wishing (for being able to drink Cini in France)

I may be spelling it wrong. It might actually be Gini. Either way, it's a really tart Grapefruit drink along the lines of Orangina. We all know how much I love Orangina...

Just so's ya know. I haven't been skiving on our agreement to work out more either.
Funny how just going to the gym three times makes me think I look sexier even when I likely haven't even started showing results. Beauty's all in the mind baby.

* Big Move! *

I hope Scotland is good for you.

How weirdly symbolic that it's your mom's tear duct that's infected.

Man. Totally and completely jealous of you. All the people I've known that have studied abroad or stayed abroad for any length of time have come back totally changed by the experience. Anyway, good luck!
