Just a reminder that the capture of Saddam Hussein has absolutely nothing to do with the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. A terrible dictator has been captured and will be brought to justice by the people who lived under his regime. Also at the cost of many innocent lives. Osama Bin Laden remains at large.

I dread the conservative self congratulating that will be going on for the next few days or weeks. Nobody has any right to congratulate themselves until maybe 10 years from now if Iraq is actually a functioning democracy. But thats just an afterthought anyways right? We got the guy that frustrated and threatened daddy bush and created a lot of opportunity for certain financial interests and thats all that matters.

Hopefully they will find Osama Bin Laden's hole soon, too.

I'd estimate that happens some time in October, or so - you know, just in time for elections?

Or it may happen just in time to preempt the democratic national convention.

Thank you for this absolutely accurate wake up call that most people in my media-drenched country will completely ignore.

There is irrefutable proof of a connection between Osama and Saddam!

I read about it! (http://www.weeklyworldnews.com/suspects/suspects.cfm?instanceid=59610)

Do you always believe everything the media feeds you? How pathetic and small of you!

No, I don't believe everything I read, and sometimes I make comments that are sarcastic and ironic.

You, however, seem to believe everything you read, like my last post. That, by your own judgement, would make you pathetic and small! And perhaps it makes you a bit moronic too!

No actually I believe my statement was centered towards the media Not "everything" and you certainly aren't the media. That being said, your comment holds no validity.

Dude, you're totally taking it the wrong way! André was joking!

But for the record Livejournal is just as valid a piece of media as TV or newspapers.

Ahhh my apologies André. I agree my definition of Media being wrong, I had meant the mass media controlled by large corporations. So there is a marked difference. But seriously, sorry! :)

That would have been absolutely to die for! I think this may have been the guy I was flaming on Slashdot about Ann Coulter that led to this post. I mean when you google for "nfotxn" you don't get much other than me.

Wow, gotta love anon Conservative.

On to top that all off, what the hell would Brodie care about American politics. He's a Canadian and probably could give a rats ass about Bush.

See that's half the fun! American Conservatives are so dilluded that most of the arguments don't even make sense when you bring up that whole "rest of the world" thing.

I agree, the war in Iraq has and had nothing to do with terrorism and 9/11. However this piece in the Telegraph sure is interesting.

ABU NIDAL (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2003/12/14/wterr14.xml&sSheet=/portal/2003/12/14/ixportaltop.html)

It's certain that Saddam was a bad dude and involved in all sorts of terrible things. But as far as Joe Average's perception there is much American media doublespeak that is equating him with Bin Laden through simple omission of these facts. As far as reason to go on a war the evidence in the Telegraph piece is hardly enough to go on.

This was from a satirical news program (not unlike This Hour has 22 Minutes):

http://www.abc.net.au/cnnnn/firthfactor/s680616.htm

On September 11 democracy also paid heavily. We now know the terrorists came from Tunisia, Algeria and Saudi Arabia:
Trained in Yemen, Sudan and Afghanistan…
Met in Indonesia and Malaysia
Were funded through Italy and Germany
And were taught to fly in America.

There can only be one response:
Attack Iraq!

Hmmm. Keeping him alive creates a rallying point... killing him creates a martyr. What can we possibly do...

Oh wait! Let's see how long it takes him to be killed in an errant bombing accident "by his own people". That's the best possible media spinout for this big finale!

They went about it the wrong way:

Jessica Lynch(tm) spectacle producer Jerry Bruckheimer should have hired Governor Schwarzenegger to make a "reality" TV event where Arnold is sent in with manly heavy artillery to pose with outside the "spider hole".

Kind of like "Al Capone's Vaults" in the 80's, but this time there really is a prize inside.
