Caution: Indulgent Camera Ego Session. Proceed with care.So I indulged my inner queer and went shopping for clothes this boxing day. I figured now that I have a bit of money it'd be worth not being all util-ghetto-chic. My ironic "Atlanta" shirt would be a good indicator. I think I got it in 1997 from my Mom's friend after she'd visited some CDC sponsered Infection Control shindig. It was awfully kind, plus I loved the ironic statement of wearing a shirt from somewhere I'd never been. Call it my post-modern statement... or don't, that's cool too. But it's looking mighty poor coming ever intimately closer with 2004.

I know that as good Bears we're supposed to revel in our lack of fashion sense. However I was raised being told that dressing well is important. As clothes do not make a man great but they can definitely indcate one. And best of all check out the bargains! I will be going back tomorrow when I have more time.

Screw this plaid and workboot schtick, I want frilly tuxedo shirts and a home robot named S. A. M.

Today was also a holiday so I got Time + 1/2 for my troubles working for the clown. Not too bad. Ended the evening with dinner at my Aunt and Uncle's for a lovely transfomed xmas bird into a more than adequate Thai Curry. We talekd about my Dad and suprising my extended family have the same concerns and fears about him and how he's fairing with this part of his life. Interesting development, I feel as if I've got a fair bit closer to my Aunt and Uncle today.

Returned home and had a good chat with the fantastic Dr. Seumas Hyslop himself where I blathered his ear off and prevented him from getting any words in edgewise.

And suddenly I'm in pretty good spirits.Good times, good times.

Ok, just a statement ... but you'd prolly look damn hot in a guevera (sp?) ... one of those cuban dress shirts ...

And as for all this consumeristic stuff ... as a good neo-liberal, aren't u supposed to make your own clothes? And to avoid feeding the textile market, aren't u supposed tow eave your own fibers from body hair and lint?

Flattery will get you everywhere... but since when did I confess to being a neo-liberal? I don't think I've really ever encoutered the term before, to be honest.

I would protest the garmet and textile industries a lot more if I had the time and money. Until then I will school myself on government regulation and policy.

body hair and lint?

Oh feh. Don't let those cliche-hugging, clueless fur queens determine your fashion style. One of the happiest days of my life was when I finally freed myself from the trappings of the Bear cult, and started dressing, acting, and thinking like my own person.

Fabulous outfit, by the way. Keep that up, and I'm going to have to start posting pics of the outfits I'm wearing each day. ;X)

My version of drag is wearing a black three piece italian suit with a black shirt and a black tie ... I can't help it if I had a mother who was a clothing designer, or if i was named after perry ellis.

I dress casually because it's cheap, easy, and fun, not because anybody tells me I should.

If people are going to labor under the false belief that a person's competence is determined by how they look, then they're probably not going to want to look at or talk to me anyway and I might as well get the extra bit of joy that comes from dressing in a way that will frustrate and confuse these people whenever their best option is to suck it up and deal with the crooked little man in the t-shirt and bluejeans.

Well, that, and jacket, ties, and buttons are my kryptonite.

Don't forget to pick up your official Bear(tm) suspenders, caps, and T-shirts on your way out. Buh-bye!

I love the composition of that shot. It looks like it belongs in some hip, upmarket menswear catalogue. (Of course, you probably designed it like that.)

For my celebration of Boxing Day, I picked up a '50s-looking black shirt and a t-shirt with a vaguely pornographic B&W print of a bikini-clad woman on all fours. I'm very happy with it :-)

I think you did better than me, though.
