I do love m83.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mtzlplck for the tip.

Interestingly enough Run Into Flowers is on the Michael Mayer Fabric 13 mix I've been raving about and I didn't even put two and two together.

i've been eager to give m83 a listen. from the reviews i've read (almost universally positive, btw), i can't decide whether i'm expecting to love 'em or hate 'em. each review has given me reasons to expect both.

I'd definitely give them a go. Apparently it works well as a 12" in terms of sides. Also the Run Into Flowers single has three remixes that are absolutely superb. Best single I've heard in a long while!

Unfortunately, it's only an import right now, and a SUPER-expensive one at that -- usually $24. It's really Vangelis vs. My Bloody Valentine, so if you like big fat keyboard luxury and stormy guitars, it'll make you very happy.

Shit, it's like $31USD at Amazon. I totally just got the record and single for $20USD.

Sorry, had to brag. Record prices are otherwise moreso absurd here.

yeah, that's the problem...i love the stormy guitars but i'm not a real fan of the big fat keyboards... 'swhy i approach it with some trepidation...

Just imagine that the keyboards are FX pedals that make the guitars sound good.

More Good Electronica

If you like M83 you should check out a guy from Germany called Ulrich Schnauss who has an album on the label City Centre Offices. It's definitley in the MBV/Slowdive electronica vein, but with more of 80's Eno produced U2 (sans Bono) feel. I hope that does not put you off, it is very good. Shoegazing revival anyone?

I'll check him out! I've been hearing lots about City Centre Offices lately, hmmm.

I'm all for shoegazing once again. I'm a big fan of it. Although I like to move my feet sometimes too.
