So it seems the punk rawk kids aren't going to edgefest. They want to go to the Van's Warp tour.
Which brings me to my point. Wasn't punk rock all about not "selling out" and "giving' in to the man"? Then why is one of the most influential punk tours branded by a shoe company? Regardless of the fact that lots of punkers skate.. it's still branding.
The hippocracy is baffling.

Date: 2001-06-19 06:09 pm (UTC)yeah yeah
Date: 2001-06-19 09:29 pm (UTC)so they use a shoe company..so what? yeah I know the punk/establishment bit, I used to be quite a punker. At least they are using vans. I have worn them for years and they are quality :P It's not like they are endorsed by nike.
I haven't gone to warp tour the past couple of years, but I think this years line up is the best since I stopped going. If I had time I would go to this one, I may, but I have radiohead tickets. woo hoo! and built to spill is comnig here in september. That and I am now a technohead. Richie hawtin returns in july. yayaya.
anyway. edgefest is evil.
(Sigh)
Date: 2001-06-19 11:03 pm (UTC)And yes punk is careless, but it has a certain asthetic that can be none the less entertaining. Part of that asthetic stems from the carelessnes, where the overall effect superceeds the poor composition.
It's not the end all be all of music.
but it can be fun.
(throws on Minor Threat)
hmmmm...
