To be honest I was worried about the UK when I got here. Their involvement in The War on Iraq seemed out of character for the nation. However the course of justice seems to be on it's way with the upcomming Hutton Report investigating the suspicious suicide of weapons expert Dr. David Kelly after the failure to find WMDs in Iraq.
Likewise the issue of University top-up fees (up to an additional £3000/yr) reserving higher education for the rich and highly indebted isn't exactly making him a popular person. From a practical perspective the de-regulation of tuition fees in Canada has had my brother paying thousands more year-to-year for his courses with no discernable improvement to his education. That is other than the inconvenience of a new Student Centre being built. Which more accurately could be describe as a mall.
