I am webblogging on the electrical interweb from Inverness Dalcross airport's departure lounge. Managed to pack everything I wanted to. ?40 in excess baggage charges on a ?28 flight. Shifty. Is 34kg luggage really that excessive? Be honest.
it depends... is it a small commuter jet? since it's from inverness to london I assume it is. In those small aircraft the weight of luggage has to be calculated precisely or else it could spell disaster. I've seen several near disasters with commuter planes when I had worked at the airport. There was an extra 60 pound bag in the back of one that no one counted and the plane was tail heavy as a result. On the first try it didn't make it off the runway, the tail ended up scraping the ground a bit, the pilot had to cancel the takeoff... The baggage handlers who loaded the plane were fired...
