What's up with the growing amount of gay men making absolutely glaringly chauvenistic comments in efforts to impress eachother?

I understand that there is context that it's funny but so often these comments are made out of such context in an effort to impress. More internalized homophobia? Quite possibly. As if acting like a straight meathead is gonna make you more manly. Please, straight men who know anything about women still think you're a dolt.

Also affecting a ghetto accent... Now I've never been able to cut it without significant effort and really refuse to wear it as a badge of honour. I might as well be affecting the Swedish Chef from The Muppet show 'cause I jeel just as absurd. I don't think anyone really wants to be talking the way they to be honest. It's just some sort of fucked up cultural expectation that y'all talk like some poorass nigga who ain't learned much 'cause the man be keepin' him down.

It pisses me off, too, but what I think is even sadder is that teenagers+ looking for an identity pick up on that one cause there's nothing comparable in their *own* lives. At this point it's a McIdentity, I wish there was something real for them to connect with. I was lucky to have two really strong Euro cultures to identify with, but what does the average American kid have? McD, Microsoft, KFC, the Simpsons, and a political system that is byzantine and unapologetically corrupt ... not much of a choice, and nothing that gives a sense of belonging.

The thing is, gay men are still men. And most young men feel they have a lot to prove (to others, to themselves, to the world, etc.) so they take on a persona that is powerful, transgressive, and usually foreign to their own experience. For the British it's Cockneys or Mancunians, for the French it's banlieue-culture. For North Americans, we lucky African-Americans are usually the unwitting providers of this.
And the whole chauvinism thing? I don't know why you're surprised when I've seen women kept out gay bars for years. Anyway, most men see women as strange foreign creatures, so it's easy to objectify and insult them. And as gay men become more accepted, they'll no longer have to feel any solidarity with other oppressed minorities. And then the true colors show through. And since most gay culture is seen through a Caucasian male lens, that means no color at all.
(and did you feel any transgressive thrill when you wrote "nigga"? You know, like you knew it was wrong but to make your point you did it anyway? Just asking.)

I like using the word Fag alot.But not in public.Only with my closest Fag friends.It takes away the pain and minimalizes the effects of the word.At least a little.I understand why some people use the word nigger with each other but in public it just makes me so uncomfortable.Aside from the connotations the word just sounds bad.Why is it that some words are laughable and some are just downright bad?although Nigga is a little better.;-)

I have a friend who, upon seeing ANY girl on TV, or in a movie, or just coming into the conversation, will say, without fail, in his lowest, come-hither growl, "Yeah, I wanna fuck her." WHAT?!?!? No you don't, you're a big huge cocksucking faggot and you wouldn't come within 20 feet of a naked woman, so cut the crap talk! I mean, I suppose, in just the right moment, it can be a funny/shocking punchline, like if Carson from Queer Eye said it offhandedly, but my friend says it a LOT. It ain't funny.
