Bill (bitterlawngnome) has posted some photos and sublime commentary on the closing of a long standing Church St. business. The Devon Restaurant closes today and will likely be replaced with something really shitty and unremarkable. I'm a fan of the place because it's one of the few establishments in the area that isn't geared to yuppie incomes and isn't a franchise or major chain restaurant.

I always thought that the food there was crappy, personally. I'm sad for its departure though, as it seemed well-loved.

Yeah but you could get a meal there for $5. That's becoming difficult even at the fast food joints.

Good point. I know a few other greasy-spoon-type places on Church with reasonable prices, such as the Studio Restaurant; there, things are under $10, but not as low as $5.
