It's kitschy and amusing because of the dichotomy between the modern and "retro" style elements, combining fairly modern dance moves and editing techniques with the stiff, stuffy "hero archetype" characters originally engendered by the Transformers series.

It's okay if you don't get it. I didn't get "Friends" or "Seinfeld" and so far I haven't been hauled into the streets and beaten. For that.
