She Skips Her Classes While I Attend Mine
Aug. 16th, 2004 08:11 pmWork is good! Or at least at 2PM on a Monday the store is pretty easy to keep up with. Unlike MDUK where the policy is "all busy work all the time" when there is a lull at Fortinos you can actually unwind a tiny bit. Customers are also generally pretty helpful and polite, as a rule. Although one overly washed pretty thing seemed really rather upset that I had to look up the code for her diet lemon-lime pop. Oh and it seems a reflex reaction for many people whom lose control of a situation is that they are "too busy" to wait for an accurate bill. As I learn the system I am also quickly learning to make on like I know what I'm doing all the time. There is great importance in creating a climate of calmness and compentence in dealing with the public. Or at least an illusion there-of.
Went for coffee with a co-worker afterwards where I had an unusual chai tea. You see more and more establishements are tunring lattes into milkshakes. My spicy chai tea "latte" even came in a milkshake glass. I don't see why chai tea should come with whipped cream and a dollop of ice cream but I took it as hospitality and did not complain. I did however make a point of walking downtown to my bus stop rather than transferring.

Date: 2004-08-16 06:07 pm (UTC)I believe Starbucks started it with the "Tazo Chai Latte" as an alternative to caffeinated warm latte drinks. And of course anybody with two nutritional cents knows that Starbucks is really just a trendy milkshake shop at this point.
I like my chai lattes though not as a tea latte but as essentially a nutmeg and cinnamon drink. There are however few places around here that do not make it out of a syrup. Although really drinking in a café in north america and not over-eating is a real feat to accomplish. I mean even in Britain everything is at least too expensive.
