It's a "feature"!

According to Livejournal labeling links for alternate user agent compatibility causes irrepairable syntax errors. That's really great they have this new feature but totally sucks if you're, say, sight impaired and use a screen reader.

Not that I have any dis-abled readers that I know about. But it's a service I try to provide at least symbolically for the sake of posterity.

Go ahead and file a bug. LJ is willing to try to get it right, as far as accessibility goes. If I remember correctly, when they were trying to prevent automated sign-ups, they held off on implementing the standard "read this graphic with distorted letters" until they could get an audio equivalent up.
