Life's Great Drama (Cont.)
Oct. 6th, 2004 03:15 amBlog stalkers certainly do suck and make me feel way weird about writing about myself. So lately I've been avoiding.. and shit, like don't you get way bored too reading all this perambulating meta-discussion bullshit? I'll cut to the chase.
Work is awesome. Sure it's hard and they pay me peanuts. But they make up for that with a great group of people and the excitement of being in a workplace that is undergoing a major renovation.
Yesterday evening I had the treat of being paid not to move groceries but to sit down at a "meeting"! That's one and a half hours of paid time to sit around talking about the new technology they are installing in our store such as self service checkouts and how it will work with real time front-end sales analysis. It was a taste of what a Real Job must be like. I really wish I had the papers to prove what I know...
Moving further backwards in time takes us to this weekend. Aaron and I drove to Michigan to visit the gracious and illustrious duo that is
dizzibear and
backrubbear with an agenda to geek out and move contraband technology and books back over the border. Much geeking out, coffee and great sushi was had. Being only one night long the visit was too short. But for both my brother and I the fall has been a veritable torrent of activity. A near picturesque fall afternoon in downtown Monroe wins top markings over an also enjoyable evening in Ann Arbor for it's genuineness alone. Ann Arbor is quite nice but stinks of money and exclusivity. A loverly time, regardless.
Thanks to Chris' great generosity I've now officially joined The Cult of Mac. A 400Mhz G4 now adorns my desk. Although more than a few seasons behind current Cupertino fashion trends the machine is still surprisingly capable. Like a 50-year-old bodybuilder it's still powerful and mostly good looking. This of course comes as no surprise to the long term Apple faithful. I've always loved the industrial design of the machines and the attention to graphic elements of the OS. However I'm not really into drinking the Kool-Aid when it comes to anything. That would impede with my much greater love of unending (sometimes) constructive criticism.
