I think I've pointed this out in the past but this is something LJer's always seem to mention when I meet them in person. Everyone seems to think that I am shorter than I am. And really height isn't a particular point of self-consciousness for me. But I am indeed 6'2" tall or a bit more depending on the height of the heel I am wearing.

Cue memories of your elementary school teachers walking down the marble floors. Click clack, click clack click clack.

[livejournal.com profile] kj is if course really fucking tall. And just as friendly as he can be.

People always think I'm way taller than I actually am...so when they meet all 5'6" of me in person they're surprised.

Of course, I'm far bigger than my body ever displays. :-)

I've always thought you were tall..then again, most people are taller than me

That is too funny! I had this notion that you were were shorter, too! LOL Instead, you're taller than me!

It's because you have that slacktastic new-millennium slouch :D

(KJ's so tall he broke me once!)

It's true! The first time I met you (in Wisconsin) you gave me a hug and picked me up off the floor and my spine snapped and I never walked again.

For a day.

Okay I got better.

In fact, the only time I've met you to this date, if I'm not mistaken.

While I don't remember it specifically, I tend to, uh, pick up a lot of people. *heh* Not as much now as I used to, mind you.

ahhh.

*remembering the "picking up" you did when we met in New Orleans for Southern Decadence.*

"I can see my house from here!"

You didn't pick me up. But your head almost scraped the ceiling in my basement.

wow... I too thought you were among the "under 6 feet tall" crowd...

Definitely the slouch.

Also, your lack of in-your-face-assertiveness.

I somehow got the impression you were about 5'10". It's hard to tell these things through photos. I thought [livejournal.com profile] sonoranbear would be a big hulking brute and I was surprised to find that he fits conveniently in my carry on baggage.

For the record, I'm 6'5".

It's fun to watch tall people dance.

Dunno if there's much logic to it. Maybe it harkens back to some part of the ancestral brain that still associates "bigger" with the idea of toughness or dominance.

I know that these things don't apply in real life so much, but I still enjoy seeing them undermined by dancing which seems like one of the least threatening things that a person can do.

Uhh... unless you're a really fierce voguer.

Looking back, I think that most of the photos you've put on line have had a high Point of View. The wedding pictures come to mind. Tall friends with cameras?

What?! I thought you were 5'10", at best.

Is it wrong to think that you're just that much hotter, over a relatively trivial characteristic as height?

From: [identity profile] bitbear.livejournal.com
No offense intended but I always thought you were shorter.
It's not really important though.
That's what I get for visualizing virtual people in my real life.

6'2". Wow.
And yes, kj is a giant.

Really? You kinda remind me of a guy that I know here in New Orleans, so I guess that I've always assumed you were shorter, like him.

Reminds me of the comment that a very cute, but somewhat compact, porn actor I worked with in college (and my work with him was NOT in porn, I might add) used to say to guys who were surprised to find out he was so short in real life: "I may be short standing up, but I'm REAL TALL laying down." And said with his "aw shucks" grin and lilting Southern accent, it never failed to charm. Of course, he was always saying it to guys who were dying to be his sugar daddy anyway, so I don't know that he really had to charm them.

In any case, Brodie, I've always thought you were just the right height. Perfect for smooching with, anyway. *grin*

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a picture of you that you're whole body is in, and I've never seen you standing next to other people. Perhaps you're like U2, never seen standing next to others so your height remains indeterminate.
