Kwality Time
Jun. 26th, 2001 07:04 pmWent drivin' around Niagara with Dad while he's home in Canada today, he heads back to Scotland in two weeks before he rejoins the ship for four months. We hit the falls although we didn't get out to go gawk, we've both been there and done that. We did however have a walk around Nigeria on the Lake. Very touristy but there's beautiful gardens and landmarks. Picked up a post card at the olden apocathry (sp?) shoppe. It was pretty hip, they had all sorts of museum pieces from early modern medicine like a script for cocaine and package of "pink pills" which, extrapolating from the package, were pink pills that made you feel good. No other info was apparent. Spotted a cute ottery couple amongst the throngs of Asian tourists with many small silver boxes and love-drunk honeymooners. My gaydar is totally tuned up from the weekend.
Hanging out with Dad is kinda weird. We're both trying to re-bond desperately and it makes for some odd silences at times, but it's getting better. It sorta sucks having to yell at him all the time, he's losing his hearing from work. Ya see, he's a chief nautical engineer, and lemme tell you, those diesel engines are loud. I mean, you thought punk concerts were loud? They have nothing on 24 huge diesel pistons in a metal room underwater, even with safety headphones on. Although it can be fun to poke mutually hilarious fun with him.
Me: "Hey Ozzy!"
Dad: "What?!"
Me: "Nothin' Will."
But it's all good. The weather was glorious and Edgefest is this weekend! WOO!
