When you're feeling dejected and out of luck often we choose to go out and engage in a little chemical-social escapism. That is you go out and get fucked up, go on the piss, get off your face, etc. This is of course a weblog quarter-truth in the making because I go out for cheap beers and maybe a joint every Wednesday I'm not working.

So, you may recall the Defend Marriage pamphlet on the coffee table at the parents of a friend? I was ripped enough to ask him... or more accurate not ripped enough to forget to ask him what that was all about.

Sweet relief followed. His sister had received it, not her parents, and they'd been laughing about it's utter retardedness. For instance the fact that, topically, it had little to do with Equal Marriage but was more like disguised queer hate literature with statements like "Why should we let our sexual urges come before our children?". Which, only biologically speaking, is a bit of a conundrum in and of itself.

What I think is funny is that every time I find myself really "up against" the aggressors of my particular minority I discover what fucking morons they are. They're not intelligent right-wing masterminds. At best they can muster a little rhetoric that gets under your skin. But that's the best they can do.

Less afraid than I was.

Copied from [livejournal.com profile] pyat:

"Christians are a lot more bold under Bush's leadership, he speaks what a lot of us believe," said Pastor Mummert. "We've been attacked by the intelligent, educated segment of the culture," he said.

A co-worker moved into a new house that really right-wing christians must have lived in before her, because some of the literature she recieved was helarious.
My favorite by far though, was the learn-not-to-be-gay convension. Where queen that was running the group and his "wife" with the mullet were going to teach you how to leave the homosexual life behind and move into gods light as a straight couple.

Talk about screwing up kids.

Well, the marriage debate has never been about the "sanctity of marriage", given how easily the anti-gay proponents shift into their rabid, anti-gay rhetoric when challenged. However, there ARE intelligent masterminds at work behind it all. I long ago learned to stop dismissing these people as ignorant. They feel as passionately about their beliefs as I do about mine, and all I can do is respect whether they came from, and hope they evolve to respect where I'm coming from. Fortunately, people can and do evolve...

True, I just enjoy indulging a little fantasy in pretending these people are largely just a bother.

I wish there was a way to prove to them that they are the worst Christians ever.

Maybe we can write a distributed computing app to use excess cycles on the systems of IT gays across the world to solve this conundrum?

I've always been boggled at how gay marriage could corrode the value of heterosexual marriage; I've yet to even hear one argument closely resembling a considered counterpoint to the thought.

Hehe. Thanks for the chuckle.
