Joe, Brodie, Garnet, Rose, Nat and rotating members are The Jr. Elitist Society!
We pick-up stray musicians off the street.

So I know this amazing girl Rose. She has a photographic memory and can recall phone numbers weeks later after hearing them once. She works the for the central library in special collections and has this uncanny ability to bring some really neat people together.

I dunno how to explain it. When a really amazing group of people get together and things click... its' incredible. We all know we're big philosophical, musical or artistic dweebs and geeks. There is no shame there and that allows some crazy shit to just happen.

Today we grabbed some guy off the street with a guitar and jammed with him on Roses' front lawn. She recognized him from his busking downtown and complimented his Rather Good rendition of Mad World. He offered to invite us back to his place but he said he had no power right now. Welcome to Hamilton. So we hung out at Roses and took advantage of the somewhat cool-but-not-cold evening on her porch. Just jamming and hanging out.

I'm so glad to have friends I can do stuff like this with. I live a lot of my life in a creative vacuum. It's nice to breath some fresh air once in a while with people you really appreciate and appreciate you back.

Some pictures of the hippies.

Hippies. They're everywhere. They wanna save the earth, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad.

I think current generations could use the boundless naïvety of the peace and love generation if they're ever to exceed or match the self-indulgent excesses the baby boomers currently display later in their lives.

It's good fun. Although participatory music is not really "hippie" really. It's just human and fun.

Those picture are major hotness. What kind of filter did you use on them? To get this to get all crazy obscure'n'shit fading in the background with a red wash like that?

Nothing special at all! Just a longer exposure time and a flash. I think the camera does some weird processing so the flashed bits don't burn out in relation to the exposure time.

Groovoid. In the early to mid '80s I lived in an artist house in Saskatoon. It was great. We had this huge 3 story old Victorian house and filled it with artists and musicians. It was one of the most exciting times in my life. We used to have these cool parties. We did a bunch of art projects and music. kd lang was there once, so was Jello Biafra. Deja Voodoo played in the living room when they couldn't get a hall. It was a great time. I really should write a novel about that time. Or a movie script.
