Loser Hipster
Napoleon Dynamite Wasn't That Good.

For some reason Vote Pedro merchandise is pretty hot. But the film is just so mediocre. Lots of retro-nostalgia for those of us who have none.

Crazy... I was at that exact same shop exactly 2 weeks ago today!

Kensington is a required destination for all tourists, imho.

Yes, but I've been told that spring is the safest time to go... no nearly so smelly as it is in the middle of summer :P

You know what I found interesting (not having seen the movie) that it really has taken off among 12 year olds. They are constantly quoting the movie and using it as a mantra.

No no no! It was a delightful film, much more than just a retro exercise, with really great quirky, stilted characters, like a real updated screwball comedy and not just pastiche. Vote for Pedro!

I think there was a lot of pastiche though. I still liked the film just wasn't crazy about it. Whom am I to tell people what to like though?

I'm glad to see someone much younger than me didn't like it either. You'll have all sorts of people trying to rationalize how great it was because of its "social commentary," or other such dreck, but in my opinion, that is pure pretense. The movie was not funny and covered territory the has been treaded time and time again.

I went into that film hoping for some directionless comic moments with an array of oddball characters. That's what I wanted and that's what I got. I didn't know people would be so into the "Vote for Pedro" angle. Eh, there's nothing wrong with street cred for that movie, is there?

Somebody was wearing a "Vote for Pedro" shirt at Spring Thaw.

I can't remember who, though. It just seemed kinda weak.

I voted for Pedro. All of my wildest dreams came true.
