Gosh, it's been a good 8-days of non-stop working. I even was scheduled to work today but missed it. Between two jobs and trying to keep a busy social calendar I've sorta singed my edges a bit. So I flaked and will have to deal with my boss tomorrow. But whatever, it's not like I'm not working my butt off for them.
Next pay cheque is gonna be massive. Although I gotta be all Best Man style for
etherlad this Friday. I feel bad that I've hardly seen Jen and Ian lately even though I work with Ian.
I've quickly discovered that contact lenses are not my bag of potatoes. I have exceptionally squinty eyes to begin with. Add to that very sensitive eyelashes, a natural aversion to sticking things in my eye and you have a pretty hard case to crack. I've successfully inserted them into my eyes three times in the last week. This is not likely to work out given my high-speed devil-may-care semi-slacker lifestyle.
Been having some health issues lately. Nothing I think is a big deal but I see a specialist June 13th and hope that he'll figure things out. Been kinda ignoring my health for the last year or so. Scotland was a nice break but it did totally break my gym routine to pieces. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Rationalize with me!
Squeezed in the LCD Soundsystem/M. I. A. show with Greg (
plaidninja) between shifts Saturday night. It was really super although I was so tired that I had to have a sit-down and hang off Greg for a while before things really started to bump. Still found a fourth or fifth wind to get my dance on. I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they were live. Both acts lived up to the hype sufficiently. The vibe wasn't exactly bzzing with energy. It was more like a bunch of chin-scratchers trying to do as James Murphy says and not just stand around stroking their chins and looking detached. Which although a hipster concession still ended up being more fun than said standing and modelling alone. There was still a mild air of this being a Mandatory Hipster Event however faintly. Ended up at the Eagle, talked with some gays and got to bed about 330AM to get up for 9AM, get back to Hamilton for work at 1PM. Went back out that evening and stayed at Martin's to wake up at 8AM to work for 10AM again Monday... That's been the pace of things lately.
Ahhh Monday. Queen Victoria, what a lady! Traditionally Canadian Gardeners in Ontario do their planting on the 24th holiday weekend. Which means lots and lots of plants to sell. Generally people understand that identifying and count plants is hard work and are accommodating. Only two memorable jerks the entire weekend. Which considering the sheer volume of gardeners is rather remarkable. Lots of Desperate Housewives types who don't really bother me too much. You just have to smile and pander to them a bit to keep them from getting self-righteous. They're all too 'luded up to really figure it out anyhow. Thanks GSK-pfizer-Wyeth! People are generally more happy to be shopping for plants and plant/outdoor living related accessories than they are the drudgery that is grocery shopping. That much is certain.
