Yet another amazing mix man. Thanks so much!

Check your gmail, yo.

FYI - Bittorrent was only giving me about 35Kps but the web download came in at over 360.

But.. but.. the more people that stay on bittorrent the faster it goes! It's upload communism.

She looked at her email, but the inbox was bare.

that's funny. i just made a mix cd that contained half of the songs that are on this one. are you stealing my thoughts? although i just can't seem to warm up to art brut. i don't know why.

Tin for tin foil hats!

Art Brut really seem to get a love-hate reaction. They make music that is actually punky rather than just whiny and petulant.

i mean, it's not to say that i don't like it or that i think it's crap. i just don't see what the fuss is all about. it's like the new sleater kinney album. all i read about is how amazing it is but when i listen to it i think "dig me out was so much better".

maybe my expectations were too high.

hey do you like the fiery furnaces?

they have TWO!! the first one, rehearsing my choir, is coming out in october i think. it's all over the internet now. and it's fucking fantastic. go git it!

the second one, which matt describes as "a nice record with bright, love songs... a newfangled version of the synthesizer-heavy music from the Who's 1975 'Tommy' film, and an 'old-time '20s version of Devo' with mandolin orchestras," is coming out at some point next year.

how could you not be excited with a description like that!!

I'm not very connected to new music nowadays, especially the more independant stuff, and there's a few LJers - you, [livejournal.com profile] slumberjack, [livejournal.com profile] arthole who keep me connected.

I'll add my name to the list of thanks. I've wanted to investigate a bunch of these bands, and this mix certainly is great starting point. Thanks for putting it out there. Incidentally, I like the flow of artists you've put together here.

That 'Spanish Song' by Kid606 is really cool. I can recognize the accents of the people speaking and they sound either cuban or puertorrican to me. Great mix of songs. Thank you for sharing. -)
